The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway has a total length of approximately 1,877.15 meters, crossing the 1,044-meter-high Mount Fuji (Buji Mountain). The round-trip takes about 16 minutes, allowing you to leisurely explore Sun Moon Lake with a 360-degree overlook of the lake and mountains. If humidity is high, you might even witness dreamlike, misty scenery resembling a fairyland. It guarantees a feast for your eyes and is an unmissable way to travel in Sun Moon Lake.

Booking Instructions

  • Please select an attraction product and add a THSR ticket to enjoy the THSR package discount. Actual discount rates are subject to the selected train service.
  • The opening time for ticket reservations is subject to the announcements of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation. Current regulations allow bookings from 29 days prior to the date of travel (inclusive) up to 60 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. Every Friday and Saturday, tickets can be reserved up to the Sunday four weeks later (reservations will open earlier for specific holidays; please refer to the THSR Corporate Website Info).
  • If passengers need to cancel their itinerary, the attraction products and THSR train tickets must be refunded and canceled together; individual cancellation of either item is strictly prohibited.

Ticket Types and Discounts

  • Adult Ticket: Purchase any designated attraction product to enjoy discounted fares on THSR Standard Class and Business Class reserved seats. Actual discount rates are subject to the selected train service.
  • Concession Ticket: Those who qualify for Senior, Concession, or Child status can enjoy a 50% discount on the full fare. The applicable ticket types and available add-on car classes are all handled in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation. Concession tickets (Child/Senior/Concession) can be purchased individually without being paired with attraction products.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • Train Number, Time Slot, and Seating: Subject to the display on this platform's system. Seats are automatically allocated by the system; no seat selection feature is provided, and adjacent seating is not guaranteed.
  • Route Segment Restrictions: Either the origin or destination station must be a station located in the area of the tour itinerary. Business Car tickets are not available for the Nangang–Taipei, Nangang–Banqiao, and Taipei–Banqiao segments.

※Note: Please read through the "Public Statement on the Personal Data Protection Act for the THSR Add-on Deal Project" in detail. Once you complete the THSR Add-on Deal booking, it indicates that you have read and agreed to the statement.

1. This is an electronic ticket (QR Code); no physical tickets will be sent separately.
2. After payment is completed, please check your inbox for the "Payment Success Notification." Use the QR Code attached in the email for redemption; alternatively, go to the website's [Member Center] → [My Orders] → [Paid] tab → click [View] to access the QR Code for redemption.
3. Present the electronic voucher (QR Code) at the attraction's redemption counter, where service staff will verify it for use. 

| HSR Ticket Collection Method:

  • Ticket Type: For one-way tickets, you will receive 1 set of Voucher Number (Reservation Code); for round-trip tickets, you will receive 2 sets of Voucher Numbers (Outbound/Inbound).
  • Please take your HSR Reservation Code and the ID Number of the person collecting the ticket used at the time of booking to any HSR station ticket window, automatic ticket vending machine, convenience store (requires an additional service fee of NT$10 per ticket, or NT$20 for round-trip) or use the HSR T-EX Mobile Ticketing App to collect your ticket.

※ Note 1: For detailed mobile ticketing information and precautions regarding Senior/Disabled concession tickets, ticket distribution functions, etc., please refer to the T-EX App "Ticketing Instructions." Passengers purchasing concession tickets must have valid identification ready for verification during purchase, collection, and boarding.
※ Note 2: Tickets under this project collected via the T-EX App must be modified or refunded at an HSR station ticket window.

  

| Sun Moon Lake Ropeway

  • Boarding Address: No. 102, Zhongzheng Rd., Yuchi Township, Nantou County
  • Entry Instructions: Please present your electronic voucher (QR Code) at the self-service ticket machine at the 2F Service Desk of the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway Station to redeem it for a physical ticket. Then, take the physical ticket to the 3F Ropeway Boarding Platform gate and scan the QR Code for entry.

 

 

| HSR Ticket Changes

  • Ticket Not Collected: The HSR departure time and date cannot be changed online. If you need to make changes, please cancel the original order and rebook.
  • Ticket Collected (including T-EX collection): Once the ticket is collected, changes or cancellations cannot be processed through this platform. At the latest, please bring your ticket to the HSR station ticket window at least 30 minutes before departure to process a change or refund. Each ticket is limited to "one change to another train on the same day."
  • In the event of a refund, the ticket fare will be returned in cash after deducting the service fee. Please be sure to note your travel time and complete ticket collection in advance. Refunds will not be accepted if you are unable to board the reserved train due to late ticket collection.

| HSR Ticket Cancellation and Refunds

  • Canceling the itinerary requires simultaneous refunding of the HSR discounted ticket; it cannot be retained individually. If the discounted ticket is used alone in violation of the project regulations, THSRC reserves the right to recover the discount difference.
  • Ticket Not Collected:
    • a. Cancellation 30 minutes or more prior to the scheduled departure time: 0% service fee of the HSR ticket fare will be charged.
    • b. Cancellation within 30 minutes of the scheduled departure time: 100% service fee of the HSR ticket fare will be charged.
  • Ticket Collected (including T-EX collection):
    • a. At the latest, please bring your ticket to an HSR station ticket window or the original convenience store where the ticket was collected at least 30 minutes before departure to process a refund. The fare will be refunded in cash after deducting the service fee.
    • b. Obtain the refund certificate and provide it to this platform's customer service staff to complete the itinerary cancellation.
  • Typhoon Refund Regulations:
    • a. From the date a sea typhoon warning is issued until the date it is lifted, passengers may process a refund at any HSR station ticket window within one year of the travel date. After staff confirms the ticket is unused, a full refund of the actual fare paid will be issued without service fees.
    • b. If you wish to process a refund at a convenience store at least 30 minutes before departure, the "HSR Refund Service Fee" may be waived, but the "Convenience Store Service Fee" will still be charged according to the provider's regulations.
    • c. Service fees for the original ticket purchase or collection will not be refunded.

※ Note 1: HSR tickets and attraction itineraries must be refunded or changed together. If any ticket has been used or the departure time has passed without cancellation, no refund will be issued, and partial cancellations (e.g., refunding for only one person in a party of two) are not permitted.
※ Note 2: Changes to designated promotional trains are limited to one change to another applicable designated train or seat on the same day. If you wish to change the date, route, car class, or status, or if the change does not meet the "applicable designated train" criteria, the original discount will not apply. Please process according to the ticket statuses mentioned above if changes or refunds are needed.
※ Note 3: Designated promotional trains are valid only for the date and train number specified on the ticket. Passengers who voluntarily take a different train with a designated promotional ticket will lose the original discount. If discovered without active fare adjustment, the passenger must pay the full fare difference plus a 50% surcharge of the fare difference for the traveled segment as a penalty.

| Attraction Change and Cancellation Instructions:

  • The attraction usage date cannot be changed online. If you need to make changes, please cancel the original order and rebook. Refund standards for each attraction follow their specific refund descriptions, and customer service will assist according to regulations.
  • Attraction tickets must be refunded together with HSR tickets and cannot be retained alone. If HSR tickets have been collected, please process the refund at an HSR station or the original collection channel at least 30 minutes before departure, obtain the certificate, and then apply through [Member Center] → [My Orders] → [I want a refund].

| Sun Moon Lake Ropeway

  • In response to large events (e.g., Cherry Blossom Festival), operating hours may be extended. Hours may also be adjusted due to weather conditions, power outages, or system maintenance.
  • The first Wednesday of every month is a maintenance day, and the ropeway is closed to the public. Additional closure dates may be added for annual major maintenance as announced. 【Click here to view】

  • Once any item or gift in the package has been verified and used, no returns or refunds will be accepted.
  • Please be sure to note the business hours of the redemption store. If redemption is unavailable during a specific period, please redeem during other normal business hours within the validity period.
  • This ticket is limited to one person per ticket. Each electronic ticket can only be used once and cannot be reused after entry verification.
  • In the event of force majeure (including but not limited to natural disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and heavy rain), the organizer may postpone or cancel the event for public safety, with prior notice and contact. For any matters not covered herein, the organizer reserves the right to modify, terminate, or change the details of the event.

| Sun Moon Lake Ropeway

  • The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway ticket is limited to one round-trip ride on the same day.
  • As this ticket is only for the ropeway ride, it does not include admission to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.
  • Passengers may only board from the Ita Thao Sun Moon Lake Main Station; entry from the 九族文化村 (FACV) Station is not permitted.
